In John 4:23 Jesus told the Samaritan woman, "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him." He said it’s now and is coming, this is the typical Kingdom language Jesus used many times in the Gospels. What does this mean? Why does it matter? We tend to apply the word "worship" in the framework of singing worship songs during a Sunday service or perhaps a small home group. While that is part of it, it is so much more. When He says "worship in spirit and truth", Jesus is not simply talking about singing worship songs. It is much deeper, fuller, and more powerful.
